Alliance for Water Stewardship Africa

The Environmental Compliance Institute (ECI) is a founding partner of the Alliance for Water Stewardship Africa (AWS Africa). The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) is a global membership collaboration comprising businesses, NGOs, and the public sector. AWS members contribute to the sustainability of local water resources through their adoption and promotion of a universal framework for the sustainable use of water – the AWS Standard – which recognizes and rewards good water stewards through third party certification. Alliance for Water Stewardship Africa is the regional partner of AWS, driving and guiding implementation of the AWS Standard across the continent. In 2018, 26 regional stakeholders from 8 countries joined together to agree a strategy to guide and champion the impact of AWS in Africa. As a result, AWS Africa was initiated in response to regional demand for an African-led membership organization to champion, coordinate and accelerate uptake and positive impact of the AWS system.
